The person in this position will design, develop tests and perform tests, write test reports and analyse and present results associated with the development of a low cost common rail (CR) diesel pump for the automotive market based on a current design. Therefore he/she will be involved in the conceptual phase. The position will require balanced decision making and good analytical skills. They must be able to work other members of the cross-functional project team responsible for overall pump competitive success.
Responsibilities:
· In charge of the development of technical features for new common rail High pressure pump.
· Developing full proofed solution to ensure that the pumps, and its components properties, are in line with the final application requirements.
· Working with a multi functional team to ensure solution meets technical specification, customer requirements and compatible with company’s manufacturing and purchasing standards
· Respecting overall customer project timing and cost targets
· The mission will comprise of short term actions and long term development where robust design and flawless launch objectives have to be kept in line
· Statistical tools and methodologies (6 Sigma, Green Y, Red X, DOE) to be applied during the development of the product.
· Participate in Program Project reviews and design reviews as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
· Engineering degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent
· Development engineering experience to a standard of independent responsibility
· Must be innovative and visionary in developing design options
· Ability to travel to manufacturing sites (France, Spain, and Romania)
· Experience with diesel engines & full cycle engineering design projects
· Effective project leadership and analytical skills
· Ability to develop and present technical presentations to customers and others
Preferred:
· Previous experience/training in 6 Sigma would be an advantage – Preferred
· Experience of applying Shainin or similar problem solving techniques. - Preferred
· DOE and statistical analysis knowledge. - Preferred
· HP Pump and or fuel systems experience. - Preferred
